Before they’ve even had an opportunity to speak with you, you almost immediately tend to think of them as approachable and reliable.

But why do we place such a high value on these first impressions? In Simple terms, it comes down to a blend of social enticement and instinct for existence. Our brains employ first impressions as a mental shortcut to avert information overload in a world overflowing with knowledge and interpersonal relationships. Thanks to this cognitive shortcut, we can pick who to befriend, whom to entrust with crucial jobs, and who to date.
However, it’s important to remember that, despite their importance, initial impressions are only sometimes accurate.
